Parkerville Children and Youth Care Inc. have an exciting newly created opportunity for a Communications and Events Officer to join our team!

 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working in partnership with out external expert advisors, the Communications and Events Officer will play an important role in assisting with the delivery of communications and marketing strategies to support Parkerville Children and Youth Care towards our strategic direction. The Communications and Events Officer will work alongside our external communications partners and will be responsible for the development and production of internal and external communications materials, with the purpose to build brand awareness.

 

The Communications and Events Officer will support the Chief Executive Officer through a range of activities, including:

 

  • Assisting in extending the communications functions of Parkerville Children and Youth Care, strengthening its corporate brand and the communities within which it operates,
  • Generating, preparing and contributing to content for Parkerville Children and Youth Care’s communication channels, including website, social media, email newsletters and other external channels,
  • Developing and supporting the production of visually engaging communications and marketing materials, including infographics, email newsletters, publications, and presentations,
  • Planning content, writing copy and contributing to the production of publications such as brochures, annual reports, newsletters and other documents,
  • Effectively measuring, reporting, analyzing and presenting results of communications efforts.

 

The Communications and Events Officer will also act as a lead for all organizational events through planning and preparing all event materials and taking responsibility for all event logistics and production.

 

In addition to the demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels, the following skills and experience are essential:

 

  • A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant industry experience in a public relations, communications, events or a related role,
  • Experience specific to events and external communications and marketing,
  • High level of skill in the use of Microsoft Office suite,
  • Demonstrated understanding of communications and marketing tools including those for web, social and print mediums,
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare compelling content,
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and flexibly, as well as cooperatively as part of a team (with internal and external team members),
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, manage time, determine priorities and meet deadlines,
  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, events, public relations, marketing, journalism or equivalent will be well-regarded.
