The Parkerville Children and Youth Care Murchison team has undergone significant growth in recent months and has now taken up new offices on Chapman Road in Geraldton’s City Centre to accommodate the addition of five new full-time staff to the team, bringing our number of full-time staff in the Murchison to 15.
The new premises feature eight offices, therapy, family and board/training room, a reception and waiting area. The team will continue to deliver the same services to clients in the Murchison and through cottages in Geraldton, Carnarvon and Meekatharra, but will also proceed to commence the operations of the second Family Support Network in Western Australia; the inaugural being the Armadale Family Support Network. The centre will be called the Murchison Family Support Network (MFSN) and is supported, in principle and with some resourcing, by the Department for Child Protection. The main source of operational funding, however, comes from Karara Mining and three of their service providers, BIS Industries (a long term supporter of our Friends of Parkerville Dinner) GCo Electrical and Aurizon, who have pledged financial support.
This is a significant expansion for Parkerville Children and Youth Care’s Murchison operations and it’s thanks to the support of our corporate partners that we’re able to continue to increase access to our innovative programmes and services to a growing number of clients across Western Australia.
