On October 21 approximately 170 year 10 students from Eastern Hills Senior High School, Swan View Senior High School, Caversham Training and Education Centre, Corridors Secondary College and the Employment Education Training Program from Parkerville attended the Parkerville Children & Youth Health Expo. These students participated in 6 health workshops which covered issues related to themselves, their friends or family. These included Mental Health, Sexual Health, Road Safety, Self Defence, Cyberbullying and Drugs and Alcohol. 15 youth services were also invited to attend the event to give more information on services for youth within the area. All this took place at the lovely Parkerville Children and Youth Care Campus. This was a well run event managed by the Seen and Heard Program.
To assist with this event, Seen and Heard gathered a group of 8-9 students from Eastern Hills and Swan View to be apart of the Student Organising Committee (SOC). These young people planned the event by requesting the services that attended, cooked the morning tea, and designed posters and the passport for the event. These young people were also heavily involved in the event on the day by serving the food.
The About YOUth Health Expo was proudly supported by the Local Drug Action Group, Rotary Club of Mundaring and the Rotary Club of Kalamunda.
