Parents and Children Therapeutic Services

Our Parents and Children Therapeutic Services (PACTS) program provides children, young people and their families with therapeutic support, specialising in the healing from sexual abuse and trauma related issues.

This life skills program for children and young people assists them to take positive steps to improve their own personal safety. Protective Behaviours sessions can be provided either on an individual basis, as a family group, or as a group-based program.

Who can receive support and treatment?

Children, young people and their families who have experienced or been affected by child sexual abuse.

Children and young people under the age of 18 years who have engaged in or are at risk of harmful sexualised behaviours.

 

Treatment strategies

Comprehensive assessment and individualised treatment plans are provided for each person receiving support.
 

Interventions are targeted at improving

  • Social skills
  • Behavioural difficulties
  • Trauma symptoms
  • Sexualised behaviours
  • Parenting skills (where required)

 

Treatment strategies may include:

  • Relaxation training
  • Behavioural therapy
  • Psychoeducation
  • Protective behaviours
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing

 

Our Clinicians

All PACTS clinicians are allied health professionals with particular skills and experience working with children, young people and adults who have been affected by abuse.

 

Referrals

Referrals are primarily from the WA Department of Communities - Child Protection and Family Support but are also accepted by parents or other agencies. To refer simply download the PACTS Referral Form and return the completed form to adminteam@parkerville.org.au.

 

PACTS is part of the Child Sexual Abuse Therapeutic Services (CSATS) program. CSATS help children and their families heal from the harmful psychological, emotional and social effects of sexual abuse.
